DESCRIPTION
The production titled “New Reality” constitutes a twenty-minute theatrical presentation featuring a physical theater actress and a sound artist. Designed to cater to a diverse audience, this performance offers a platform where the artists present various propositions, prompting the spectators to engage in active interpretation and expand their imaginative horizons.
Within this theatrical framework, sound assumes a prominent role, as exemplified by the live soundscapes crafted by the artist Arnau Montserrat, utilizing an array of materials and electronic compositions. Concurrently, actress Adriana de Montserrat employs her artistic prowess to orchestrate a discourse intertwining sound and action, creating a narrative tapestry rich in serendipitous nuances.
The stage design of “New Reality” is characterized by a thematic motif of newspaper, effectively transforming the performance space into a surreal landscape where the human form becomes enmeshed within the textual backdrop. Through a series of evocative imagery, the production prompts contemplation on the role of media in contemporary society, offering profound insights into quotidian existence.
My Role
In collaboration with Adriana de Montserrat, we conceived and formulated the conceptual framework of this project. Moreover, employing various sensors and Arduino technology, I engineered an interactive bicycle apparatus capable of producing auditory stimuli in response to physical movements. Concurrently, I have undertaken the creation of a dynamic soundscape composition, integrating live performance elements utilizing an array of microphones and hydrophones strategically placed on stage to capture environmental acoustics. Employing sound design methodologies, I deconstruct these captured sounds, guiding them towards a musique concrète aesthetic, enhancing the auditory landscape of the performance.

Confronted by fear, uncertainty and insecurity, there is a strong desire to overcome the emotional stagnation and social pressure in which we currently find ourselves revolving endlessly in. It is necessary to go beyond thought, connecting with instinct and essence to create new connections, sensations and images. At a time when individual freedoms are being suspended, we must break away from the boundaries which have been established to break the chain of fears and to create a new reality.
